Here are just some random thoughts/pictures from our summer. We have been on a few hikes! We have seen a lot of wildlife, and even saw a coyote on a hike that is only a couple of miles away from our house (he is towards the bottom of the picture, pretty small):
Dax got invited to a Harry Potter birthday party that was nothing short of amazing! They turned their whole house into Hogwarts. Here is their kitchen, complete with fake stone walls and "floating" candles. He had so much fun.
On one random day I took the kids to the aviary. I was worried they might think it was boring now that they are getting older, but we had lots of fun despite the heat. Dax even got to hold a parrot on his arm:
And so did Arden! I found this picture on my phone, so I guess she must have had a fun time.
The kids are always up for one of these photo ops:
Arden brought all her quarters and spent every single one feeding the birds. And loving every second of it.
Finally, Dax and me did our first race together on the 4th of July. We did a 5K, and he was a trooper. He ran the whole first mile, and we did that first mile in about 10 minutes...which may have been a little too fast for my little first timer. We ended up walking a lot during mile two and three, but we got 'er done. And then we went out to breakfast at Kneaders.
We have had a lot of adventures since then, and I'll try and catch up soon!

Summer - like races - is the best of times and the worst of times! IF you had asked me Tuesday how my summer was going I would have punched you in the face. Today? Not bad. It's only 10 am but still...
