Halloween 2016

Wait, how is it almost Thanksgiving?  I haven't blogged about Halloween yet!  So, here it is, Halloween, Twenty-Sixteen!

First, we made our annual pumpkin patch pilgrimage.  The kids are a lot bigger than they used to be when we started, but they still had a great time running through the straw maze, even though everyone but Cora could see over the top of the hay bales.  They also like to stick their heads through the signs and talked me into driving the crazy train:

Our Lagoon passes included Frightmares, so we took one of our UEA days and spent it riding rides and feeling spooky.  They had a really cool Halloween arch there:

 The kids' favorite part was the dancing chainsaw guys (and girls).  They loved it.

We even went in an actual Haunted House (Three out of five scary spiders).  It wasn't too bad, and Grandpa was there to help keep track of everyone and make sure no one ran the wrong way from all the scary clowns.

Me and my sister Val also ran our fourth annual Haunted Half.  Look at the cool medal!  

 There was also the YW Halloween party.  Gotta love those girlies!

 Arden wanted to be a skeleton for Halloween.  We found these temporary tattoos online, and they looked pretty cool:

The Zaugg Halloween party was at Grandma Zaugg's this year.  A couple of dads were willing to get wrapped up like mummies (the kids dubbed the game "Mummy Daddy, haha).

 Before we knew it, it was time to carve pumpkins!  Dax wanted a "Toothless" the dragon pumpkin.  Mine is the face.  Cora chose Zero from Nightmare Before Christmas, and Arden just wanted a simple face (which was okay with Preston who wasn't too happy with my Toothless design and the number of curvy lines I drew).

 Then the big day was here!  The kids had the day off of school for Teacher Prep Day, so we went to lunch at IHOP and got the free scary face pancakes.  Yay!

 After that we headed home and got all dolled up.  We started our trick or treating at my Grandma's house.  She is doing pretty good!

 Then we visited my mom and headed home.  I made them do the front yard picture.  Cora is a rainbow cat, Arden is the skeleton again, and Dax is Harry Potter.

The weather was perfect!!

The kids were getting ready to head out trick or treating when one of Cora's friends came to our house to get candy.  She is the youngest in her family, and was the only one still trick or treating with her mom.  She wanted Cora to come along with her, so I said okay.  It was the first year all the kids didn't stick together, but it was bound to happen.  One of Arden's friends was planning on joining her for tricks or treats, and they let Dax and Preston tag along.  They ended up with a big group of friends and dads from around the neighborhood and they were out for a long time getting candy candy candy!   They especially enjoyed the house up the hill that had a blow-up tunnel leading to the door, complete with the dad of the house jumping out with a chainsaw and chasing screaming children out.  Cora apparently was so scared she abandoned her full bag of candy and hightailed it out of the tunnel and down the block before she stopped.  Wish I could have seen that!!

It was a great Halloween and they are still eating their way through their candy, with a little help from me, of course!
