Cora Forza Academy

Last spring, Cora's coach let us know that if anyone on her recreation team was interested, "Academy" tryouts were coming up.  "Academy" is pretty much pre-competition soccer.  Cora loves soccer and pleaded with us to let her try out.  We explained that it would be a LOT more practice, but she solemnly swore there would be no whining about going to practice.  We have never done Comp or Academy soccer before, so we were pretty clueless going into it.  We are finding our way though.

Cora has been (pretty much) true to her word, and happily attended practice all summer long.  She has already improved a lot.  Here she is with her team during a time out:

Cora is a little on the small side still, but she can be pretty fast when she tries hard.  Go Corbs!
Her favorite thing is still scoring goals.  She is less motivated to play defense, but her coach is working on it.
Her team has had some rough games and some good games, and Cora has been trying her best.  Her team usually splits into two teams.  Cora plays on the "B" team, and gets to be a sub on the "A" team. Cora is a little competitive (not sure where she might have learned that from), and likes to play for the A team because they usually win.  However, I think she has learned more on the B team, since she gets to be one of the best and get lots of opportunities to kick the ball and score her beloved goals.

She loves it!  I am so proud of how hard she tries and how much she is learning and improving.  Go Cora and go Forza!
